Celebrate the Small Things!
Hello, Friday! And hello to another episode of Celebrate The Small Things!!!
This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. The purpose: to help us remember all those wonderful, little things that put a smile on our faces this past week. (and big ones too.)
You can sign-up on the linky below!
This week, I'm celebrating:
1) Getting our hay done! The field's been cut and baled, partially by us but mostly by a dairy farmer since our vintage machinery was giving my hubs a headache. But done is done, so I'm happy!
2) A $4 microwave! I got it at a local auction, and it's pretty new and in great shape. I'm not a microwave fan, but my hubs and kids are, so this was for them.
3) A new book! I was lucky enough to win this over at Project Middle Grade Mayhem and received it this last week. Yay!
4) Beta notes! My betas were SUPER-duper fast - I mean speed of light crazy quick - and their comments are so helpful. I love how others can spot problems like that. So helpful!
And what about you?
What made you smile this week? A flower growing in a crack on the sidewalk? Interesting clouds in the sky? An unexpected nice comment at work? What are you celebrating?

Congrats on getting the hay done, and on the awesome book win! Hope you have a great weekend, =)
ReplyDeleteA $4 microwave!! Score! I swear, you are always winning fun stuff! Congrats! :) And big YAY for great Beta notes. That WAS fast! Goodie. Have a great weekend, rain or shine!!
ReplyDeleteNOT A MICROWAVE FAN?? How is that possible? It's the 21st century and you have 4 kids! I seriously think without my microwave, I would starve. :-P
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good week, and congratulations on your hay (hey!). :-) I'm celebrating the fact that I'm finally getting a new website, something I've been wanting for a long time. But you probably already knew that. ;-)
Mere - Thanks! And have a great one too!
ReplyDeleteKrystal - Enjoy your 4th!
Ilana - Can't wait to see your new page! And as to microwaves. . .I'm just a traditional girl ;)
Congrats on getting your hay in! I grew up on a dairy farm, so I know how much work that is. I don't use a microwave either. I've never owned one. Enjoy your new book and your weekend! And thanks for taking over the co-hosting job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! Congrats on the haying and the new book - looks cool! I couldn't live without my microwave. I cook enough for days and then we re-heat 'coz no way I'm cooking everyday. My CPs have slowed down with the summer, but I'm sure they'll have great ideas when they get to my WIP. ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad that, as the hymn has it, 'all is safely gathered in'. Have the weekend off.
ReplyDeleteI just read NOOKS & CRANNIES on my Kindle and loved it to pieces! I also read a very entertaining manuscript this week. ;)
ReplyDeleteTwo things that made me smile this week: Getting half the editorial notes I've been waiting for so I can lick these final revisions. And a fan email from a reader clamoring for the release of my next book.
Congratulations on the hay and also the microwave! $4.00? What a deal! Meanwhile, I just finished reading Nooks & Crannies two days ago. Awesome book. Great characters, and loved the writing. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWow! All sorts of little surprises! And a field of freshly-cut and baled hay sounds like heaven!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Congrats on that microwave and your work. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteCan't help but be excited about a $4 microwave. One time I found an old kids puzzle at a garage sale for $0.25 only to see others like it on ebay for $80. I was pretty happy about that one.
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to beta notes and contest winnings. That microwave was a great deal.
ReplyDeleteOur microwave acted up the last time someone used it, so it's out of order for now. All of these are great celebrations. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteGod, Entertainment, & Annoying Things
A microwave is vital for me. Yet there is a strange white box with 4 circles on top in the kitchen...
ReplyDeleteWalking in the aquarium--I was able to walk halfway without stopping! Also, I noticed a lot of families milling by, and I realized I could write about them. After completing the walk, I went to the tourist trap store and bought a notebook with paper made of rock, and am using that to write.
I would be malnourished without my microwave! It's exciting to get a good buy and even more exciting to win something. Don't know anything about hay except that horses and cows eat it.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have had a good week, may your weekend be great also xx
ReplyDeleteAlways worth celebrating a bargain! Glad to hear you have your hay baled.
ReplyDeleteNooks & Crannies looks crazy. I might try it out.
ReplyDeleteBetas are awesome. Even if you don't agree with their comments or suggestions, it's still great to get perspectives.
