Celebrate the Small Things

Yep, another week has passed by, which also means it's time for another episode of Celebrate The Small Things!!!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.  The purpose: to help us remember all those wonderful, little things that put a smile on our faces this past week (and big ones too).

You can sign-up on the linky below!

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Dragonflies! This time of year, a large swarm of these beautiful creatures collects behind our hay barn each evening for a bug diving spectacle. There's over 100 of them swooping through the air. An amazing site, I'm so glad to experience.

2) A Writer's Care Package! Anyone who follows me, might have noticed I'm involved in Ready.Set.Write! this summer. I was lucky enough to win the care package for last week and am so looking forward to it. Thanks, guys!

3) A trip to the Discovery Center! As a last hurray, the kids and I went to a type of science/children's museum. There were all sorts of activities from seeing fruit fly mutations to a large water table where one could build their own streams to a bed of nails. The kids had a lot of fun.

4) Scratching cows! A calf I bought a few weeks ago is a real attention monster and loves to get scratched on the neck and behind the ears. The other day, some of the other cows caught on to this and stepped forward for a scratching too. I told my hubs, we might as well invite them into the house as 'house' cows at this rate. . .or maybe not.

And what about you, what are you celebrating?

    1. The ones back in Wyoming/Nebraska were NOT tame. Not even close. But here in Missouri they are sweet as can be. . .mostly. But there's a secret named 'grain bucket' ;)

    1. I'm betting if I come out wanting to scratch them, they'll turn their tails at me and march out of there quick. Fickle creatures.

  5. I LOVE Dragonflies! I once saw one that was at least a foot long. It was hovering over our car on the freeway as we were stuck in traffic. We were all mesmerized. And the wings were as so loud it sounded like a tiny helicopter.

    Happy Friday!!

    1. The only problem with the cow scratching is that when they get 1000lbs + and sneak up behind you swinging their heads to get scratched, I get a bit nervous.

  8. We have no shortage of dragonflies here. They even have their favorite places on the sidewalk!

  9. Congrats on winning the care package! Dragonflies are lovely, you don't see them often where I live so it makes it ultra special when I do see one :)

  10. I'm not quite as comfortable with the wilderness as you seem to be. I'm more like Zsa Zsa Gabor in "Green Acres." But I'm glad you're enjoying dragonflies and pet calves, and yay for the care package! Have a great weekend! :)

  11. I'd love to see those dragonflies! Congrats on winning the care package! The part about the cows made me laugh. I grew up on a dairy farm and know just what you mean about cows liking to be scratched. Sometimes they're just like big pets.
