Every first Monday of the month, us writers get together to share our fears and concerns or offer encouragement and wise words. Thanks to Alex J. Cavanaugh for launching this amazing group!
And thanks also to his wonderful helpers this month:
Chemist Ken, Suzanne Sapseed, and Shannon Lawrence!
This month, I'm not feeling overly insecure or secure. More of a float in the middle. In other words, I'm working on the final rounds (notice round'S') of revisions before sending my next manuscript off into the world.
I think this quote from Larry King sums up my current attitude best:
“Write. Rewrite. When not writing or rewriting, read. I know of no shortcuts.”
—Larry L. King, WD
Writing is work. There are precious moments where it is exciting and adventurous, but often, it's just sitting down and doing the work.
Good thing we writer's love our work!
If we didn't love it, then it would just be a job.
ReplyDeleteIt's the less glamorous stages of writing that separates the writers from the pretenders. It's hard to force yourself to sit down for another X hours of tedium. But that's what has to be done to make the books happen. Good luck with your ms!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your ms! Love the quote!
ReplyDeleteExciting! I love the quote too. There is a lot of unglamorous things about the writing life, but it is so worth it. Congrats on your manuscript going out into the world!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!! It really is work. And over glamorized work at that. Reminds of an info graphic I like that shows the writer looking all intellectual and organized, when in reality we look like we just got out of bed most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about this next book of yours! ^_^
That's a great quote! :) Write and rewrite, oh the beauty of being a writer.
ReplyDeleteLove the Larry King quote ~ It's actually inspiring! It makes me feel better as I flounder and flail! Good luck with your writing!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the revisions!

IWSG Co-host in March :)
Very true, and I think that's one of the things non-writers don't realize - so many people seem to think writing is easy. Where they get that idea, I don't know. O_o
ReplyDeleteThere is very little that is glamorous about the actual day-to-day of writing, isn't there? Plus, it's internal, so it's not even really fun to watch! Good luck with your revisions!
ReplyDeleteYup, that's a great quote. In fact, I feel guilty if not constantly doing one of those three things!
