Yay for Celebrate the Small Things!

This weekly blog hop is sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.

What exactly are we celebrating?

Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

It's been a rough week. . .my husband's company decided to not pay the employees their wages and gave no notification. So we're scrambling to find a solution, since there aren't many job possibilities here in the middle of nowhere, it's a bit frustrating. Good-bye sleep!

In other words, it's a super YAY for Celebrate the Small Things!!!

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) My daughter was on the radio yesterday morning! She's quite the social butterfly, so there's a little story behind this. A man came to pick up his wife at the gym where my daughter's cheer leading squad practices, and said daughter overheard that he works at out small town radio station. So she ran up to him and said, "How about making me famous?" He agreed (with some banter, I'm told) and asked her to come by this morning to discuss cheer leading, the up-coming pep-rally and the big games this weekend. . . that would be good news number two: her school's boy's basketball team is playing at State this weekend. It was fun to listen to her. I admire her pep and out-going attitude.

2) My oldest son swore in to the National Guard Reserve on Wednesday! He's been planning and informing himself for a year now, and finally figured out how to work it all in with his college plans. We're proud of him.

3) Another baby calf! This one is white and gray. . .and of course, oh so cute!

4) Starting the third writing/editing project this year! I've been in a writing slump the past couple of years. This year, I'm determined to up the game and send those pages flying into the world. Lol! It's sad how often I have to remind myself of this goal and force myself to hold to it--I'm going to need my son's drill Sergeant.

What about you? What are you smiling about this week? Did you get a chance to work-out? Buy a lovely pen or notebook? Drink a delicious beer? Wash those windows. . .whoa! Wait up! That's not a smiling thing. . .Find someone to wash those windows for you?????

What are you celebrating this week?

  1. They just decided not to pay them? That is really crappy.
Good for your daughter for being brave and peppy enough to ask for that radio spot.

  2. So sorry about your husband's pay. What on earth?? I hope you find a solution soon.
But what wonderful news about your children. Your daughter sure is a go-getter and you must be so proud of your son.
Can I borrow your son's drill sergeant? Your slump sounds like mine so here's to both of us breaking out of it!
    Take care, Tonja.

  5. Sorry about your husband's company. That's a rotten decision to make.

  7. Your husband's company did WHAT??!! What a nightmare. I'm so sorry. I hope they straighten themselves out or your hubby can find something new. Yay for your adorable daughter! Congrats to your son. He has his plate full now. Just because you don't get many pages written, don't let it stop you from thinking and planning. Great ideas and strides forward often take time. Good luck!

  9. Goodness, much to celebrate here--your daughter on the radio, your son's new direction, calf born, and your writing, but your husband losing wages sure can't be good. Hopefully a sane solution to all this is coming!

  10. What the hell happened with your husband's company. >_< Hope you guys can find something that works for you soon. And best of luck with your new writing endeavors; I know it can be rough to start again but hopefully it'll go well for you.

  11. Tonja, WOW, bummer about the hubby's job! I hope the company can rectify the problem to pay everyone and keep its head above water. It's tough living in an area where jobs are scares. The things that made me smile last week and no doubt will this week is my doodle art. I'm having such fun testing my abilities. I won't be the next Norman Rockwell but like I said, I'm having fun and isn't that the point? :) Saying prayers for your situation and glad to see your kids are shining!

  14. I can't believe companies sometimes. I am so sorry that happened to you but all your other blessing seem pretty great. I am celebrating taking the rest of the week off work and having a nice dinner with my honey. Also, I am pretty proud of my daughters dedicated and detailed room cleaning strategy this week. She's only six and can organize me most days.

  15. Sorry to hear about your husband's company. That sort of thing shouldn't be legal. I've been in a writing slump as well for several years. The last time I was productive, I took a year off from the web. I'd hate to do that now that I've become active. (And the A to Z challenge starts next month.)
