Hey, Hey, Hey! Let's Celebrate The Small Things
Welcome to this weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.
What exactly are we celebrating?
Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.
This week, I'm celebrating. . .
This week actually started out rough. We had a stray cat taking over our barn and not allowing any of our cats near the food or shelter. So my husband decided to catch it...and we're talking ultra mean, super fighter cat. My hubs got her, but not without battle wounds that left his right hand swollen for a few days. Then, our dog was bitten by a snake (thank heavens not poisonous) and has been limping along most of the week. (Not to mention a stupid cold I've picked up which has really made my head fuzzy) So I'm all about turning to the sunny side of life and celebrating now.
1) Winning a GC and an ebook! That always puts a smile on my face.
2) Pizzas! Tons o' tons of pizza! My son decided to help out his fiance with a fundraiser and bought 30 pepperoni pizza kits. (Yeah, he let his love really shine) Alas, he forgot to tell me about this great deed until a couple of hours before said pizzas and fitting ingredient packages were delivered and needed to be stuffed into a freezer immediately. It was a super-duper make space and re-stuff freezer until it's bursting to the gills sort of thing. But now, we've got tons of pizza to eat!
3) Winning a baby package from Walmart! First--no, I nor anyone in my family is expecting a baby. . I was just grocery shopping, when the kids saw the 'guess how many cotton balls are in the jar' contest and wanted to give it a go. As luck would have it, we know someone who can definitely use the baby things. So she'll get a smile on her face too. Double celebrating is especially fun!
4) Cooler temperatures! Yes, I am REALLY excited about this. The last few nights have gotten down to the mid/lower 50's. And the days have stayed in the lower 70's. Goodbye 90 degrees and hello comfortable!
Now, it's your turn. What put a smile on your face this last week? Get a lot of writing done? Find time for an extra coffee or maybe even a glass of wine? Get a glance at a huge pumpkin? What are you celebrating this week?

How fun with the cotton ball guessing jar and winning a baby package to give to someone!!! Congrats, also, on winning a GC and ebook! I think Vegas is call you with those odds on winning things!
ReplyDeleteLove the part about the baby package! Not only was it fun to win, but you're going to make someone else's day. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a good, focused week overall, but I'm looking forward to some down time this weekend.
I'm excited about cooler temperatures.
ReplyDeleteOne can never have too many pizzas.
Glad it wasn't a poisonous snake that got your dog. You'd be on a snake hunt then.
We are going to have a high of 60 today! Squee! I'm still working on cutting down my short story. It's around 6500 words now. I think the last 500 will be the hardest to cut. Then I'll want to edit. It's good to have a small project though. Feels manageable.
ReplyDeleteWe have a new stray cat around, but our cat is the stronger one and chases the new one away. I feel bad. I want to help this other kitty.
I have never won one of those guess the number games.
ReplyDeleteMy family is happy for the drop in temperatures, but I always hate to see the warm days go.
Not too much happened in my personal life this week since work has picked up, so I'm looking forward to this weekend to relax! Glad to hear that your animals are ok now, and it looka like you had some great things happen to balance your week!
ReplyDeleteCrazy cat! Oh my! Glad it's out of way, but yikes! It's like he should have been in a metal suit or something.
ReplyDeleteI'm also thrilled about the weather!! It's fantastic and I love it. ^_^
Loving the cooler temperatures!!
ReplyDeleteFeral cats can be hazardous. Hope your hubby's hand is better.
Lots of pizza — can't go wrong there. Wow, that stray cat sounds like a mean one. Glad your husband is okay. And your poor dog. Definitely a bad start to the week. That's great about the baby package. So nice to be able to share with someone who needs it. Love the cooler weather! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about battle-cat, bitten dog, and your cold, but what a delightful list of good things! I love pizzas, and isn't it nice your son's helping out his fiancee? Finding places to put groceries always falls to me in our house. Congrats on your winning week for GC, book, and whoever gets the baby things. Cooler temps make me SO happy!! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAck! Sorry about your husband's battle wounds. Next time, maybe there's an animal control you can call? Wishing your dog a speedy recovery also, plus you for your cold! Man, there is no end to the dangerous flora and fauna where you are, both inside and out! And although I'm sure it was rough at first, it'll be totally worth it to have a freezer stuffed full of pepperoni pizza!
ReplyDeleteWow--so nice of you to win something and then think of someone in need. Bless you! But why are you celebrating colder temperature? BRING BACK SUMMER! *wails*
This week, I'm celebrating possibly collaborating with a bunch of cool authors on promotions. So wonderful to meet interesting and engaging people! :-)
I've had to do emergency rearrangements to the freezer to get everything to fit before. I can relate. But yay pizza!
ReplyDeleteSorry your week didn't start so well. I've been in a similar position with freezer space, had to take things out of packets and get creative with the space!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the giveaway wins and your pizza/freezer scramble made me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I've got worth celebrating right now is that I just made a ton of chocolate chip cookies for a work potluck tomorrow. Hopefully people will like them.
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of awesome about your family stuff, though, both the pizzas and winning the baby stuff. ^_^
Tonja, who doesn't like pizza? Anytime I have pizza I feel like celebrating! That's cool you guess the number of cotton balls correctly and that someone you know can benefit from your win. :) Our evenings are kinda nice this week but our highs are in the low 80s this week and I don't like that too much. Last week was a lot nicer, though and I know things will change again soon. So, I won't complain too much. Thanks for visiting.
