Happy Monday, and welcome to another week of. . .
Ready. Set. Write!
What is that?
In the words of Jaime Morrow, it’s a summer long writing intensive with the purpose of writing, revising, planning, and keeping each other accountable. We will be sharing our goals on Mondays, keeping our posts BRIEF (2-3 lines per heading) so we can spend more time writing and less time blogging. You can sign up at any of the other host blogs (Katy, Erin, Alison, Jaime). And don't forget to hop around to encourage other participants. 1) How I did on last week's goals.
I wish I could say great. . .but it'd be a big, fat lie. I wanted to get one chapter revised. I didn't open a page. Let's just say the last days before the start of school (and a visitor from Germany) are complicating things.
2) My goal(s) for this week.
Maybe get to that chapter finally? Probably not. But I can dream.
3) A favorite line from my story OR a word or phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised.
Shari scowled at me. “You’re sliding into Grinch mode.”
4) The biggest challenge I faced this week.
Oh, that's easy! Time.
5) Something I love about my WIP.
Each character has a distinct personality and a distinct purpose. There's no room for anything half-hearted or mundane. I love that.
Grinch mode - everyone knows what that is!
ReplyDeleteLol! Guess so :)
DeleteSorry you didn't get done what you wanted. It will wait until you're ready. Enjoy your summer. No guilt ;) Love the Grinch reference.
ReplyDeleteKids are more important anyway. So no problem.
DeleteHope you get back to writing soon! :)
ReplyDeleteMy fingers are itching ;)
DeleteI love ANYTHING that has to do with Dr. Seuss!!
ReplyDeleteWell, it's winter my end of the globe... but enjoy your summer writing project!
Ah! Winter! I'd love to see a snowflake right now.
DeleteDistinct personality, distinct purpose - love! And I'm so sorry time has been such an obstacle. I know how that goes and I do hope that you can find some time to work this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm going to keep that WIP in the middle of the dining room table. Then I can't over look it ;)
DeleteHaha...love that line from your WIP. I might have to steal it next time someone gets cranky with me. ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting that chapter done this week!
Lol! I wonder how they'd react ;)
DeleteA big yes on this: "There's no room for anything half-hearted or mundane. " Love that! I hope you can find some time for writing this week, but if not, I hope inspiration is storing up in the meantime. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of funny - inspirations, ideas and the desire to write always hit the hardest when life is the busiest.
DeleteGrinch mode... ^_^
ReplyDeleteNo pressure. All the writing distractions always come at once, it seems. Your story loves you. It'll wait. :)
When school starts, I'll have more writing time than I know what to do with. . . okay, I know exactly what I'll do with it ;)
DeleteGood luck with your goal! I'm heading into the same territory as you. My mom will be visiting next week and it's two weeks until school starts. Busy times!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with her :)
DeleteTime is such a precious commodity. I just sent a big project to my editor and am waiting for it to come back... Friday. So I'm doing a lot of stuff so I won't be so distracted come Friday... dabbling in some writing this week. Not as much as I should be doing.
ReplyDeleteI love distinct characters with a specific purpose!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goal. You can do it!!! :D
i know the feeling! to combine some of your answeres, the grinch has stolen my time, too!
ReplyDeletelet's keep writing!
Haha--Grinch mode. I know a couple of people who have that as their permanent setting. :-/
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping you find more time this week!
