Celebrate the Small Things
Every Friday, the wonderful Vikki over at Viklit sponsors this weekly meme to help remind us that it's the small things of life which make the biggest difference.
Luckily, Vikki's not alone in her quest and has
Diana Wilder
LG Keltner @ Writing Off the Edge
Katie @ TheCyborg Mom
CaffeMaggieato @ mscoffeehouse
to help her.
Thanks!
This week, I'm celebrating:
1) Dragonflies. The other evening, my hubs came in after putting away the goats and asked me if I'd ever seen over 200 dragonflies flying at once.
No. I hadn't.
So he took my hand and lead me outside behind our barn. It. Was. Amazing.
I think there were well over 200 dragonflies swooping through the air, looking for bugs. Big ones.My hubs said if they were birds or bats, he would have run. Fast.
2) Corn on the Cob. My neighbor called the other day, sounding rather desperate. Her husband had bought 120 + ears of sweet corn from a farmer and expected her to freeze all of them! Since it's just the two of them (and her freezer was already full), she wondered if I'd take a few dozen off of her hands. Guess what I did that night? Blanched and froze around 36 ears of corn. Yummy!
3) ACTs. What? I'm celebrating those exams? Why, yes -I am! My son is a senior this year (and after changing schools 3x last year due to our move), is buckling down hard. He's studying! *gasp* And the more amazing thing - every single night! This makes a mom's heart grow warm.
And what about you? What wonderful things happened to you this week? Did something small and unexpected put a smile on your face?

Wow, I bet those dragonflies where an amazing sight.
ReplyDeleteI second what Suzanne has said...that definitely would have been something special to see all those dragonflies!
ReplyDeleteHope he keeps studying.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a lot of corn to cut and freeze.
And we've seen a lot of dragonflies around here this past week, but not that many!
Good for your son! Best of luck to him :)
ReplyDeleteI love corn! Yum. And those dragonflies must have been really beautiful! :D
I luv dragonflies and corn. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteYay dragonflies! Dude, that is totally what neighbors are for. ^_^
ReplyDeleteACTs...memories. Lol!
Haha! This blog could well be entitled "The Right and Wrong Way to Be a Husband." Taking your wife by the hand to see dragonflies: good. Bring home hundreds of ears of corn and expecting her to freeze them: bad.
ReplyDeleteMazel Tov on your son buckling down! And as for husbands, it definitely seems you got one of the good ones. ;-)
I'd love to see that many Dragonflies. I love corn on the cob, it's so yummy.
ReplyDeleteSounds like wonderful celebrations! Although the dragonfly thing might have freaked me out. If that ever happens to me, I hope I'm looking out a window :)

This week I'm celebrating:
ReplyDelete1. A new character started speaking to me
2. I was brave enough to get on one roller coaster at Hershey Park. (Just one, but I did it.)
3. I'm jumping on an opportunity next week that I wouldn't normally have.
