IWSG - Sailing along

It's time for another meeting of THE INSECURE WRITER'S SUPPORT GROUP . . .Better known as IWSG because otherwise, it is a mouthful.

For those who don't know (And you don't???), this is an awesome group of writers, started by the just as awesome Alex J. Cavanaugh, with the purpose to support, help, assist, offer advice, offer a shoulder, cheer on, and about anything else you can think of along these lines. Writing is a roller coaster ride, and writers need all the support they can get.

If you want to join in, head over to the main site and sign up.

Tons of thanks goes to the co-hosts this month: Chris D. Votey, Madeline Mora-Summonte,Fundy Blue, and Chrys Fey!

I'll just start with this month's question:  Have you taken advantage of the annual A to Z Challenge in terms of marketing, networking, publicity for your book? What were the results?

I've been apart of A-Z in the past, but not the last couple of years because....wow! I can't keep up! So tons of kudos and bonus points to those who make it through. BUT I didn't use it for book publicity. Never even thought of that. Huh.

As to the rest of the writing world. . .

Things are stumbling along. I'm expecting a release of something small in May/June, and a short story around August. There are several MSs in the works, one which I hope to have done and edited by June, and another sometime this coming Fall (if not earlier).

The main problem is simple sitting down and writing...and some hiccups in plot areas. I'm hoping with Spring's garden weeding, those missing inspirations will click. (For some reason, I get my best story ideas while pulling weeds.)

That's it for this month! Rather calm but that's good.

And what about you? Off in A-Z? Writing moving smoothly? Waiting for something on the edge of your seat? Frustrated? About to give up (we've all been there!)?

How has this last month treated you?

  3. Congrats on the small things. Small things matter!

Yard work is always a great way to think. Maybe it's the fresh air?

  4. The A-Z Challenge is just that - a challenge! Lots of work, but lots of fun, too.

Good luck with your writing! And those pesky weeds. :)

  5. Yes!! Projects on the horizon!! ^_^ Get em!! I hear you about sitting down. Some nights I don't get to my story until 10:00 and then I have about an hour to write before my brain starts shutting down. Progress is progress. I'm happy you have multiple things in the works! Weeding and related tasks are really good for brainstorming. I imagine it makes weeding more enjoyable. :)

What's this upcoming spring release?! That's exciting!

  6. Weeding :-) I tend to work out story ideas while washing dishes or while I'm in the shower, for some reason. Water connection? Flowing ideas?

Excited that you have things coming out and on the horizon!

  7. Um, struggling? LOL! Glad I use a blog reader for keeping up to date. I had completely missed IWSG (just tossed up a post) until I started reading my writer friend's blogs. Eeek!

I thought I was ahead of the game with my A-Z done but I find myself spending half the day commenting and replying to comments when I should be working onmy WIP (with a 5/1 deadline for publication). DOUBLE Eeek!

  8. That's interesting about the weeds! I get story ideas while out walking. Maybe nature just can't help but be an inspiration.

  10. Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy this April. A to Z can wait until next year. I can't wait for it to turn nice enough that I can work in the garden.
