It's time for another edition of. . .
CELEBRATE THE SMALL THINGS!
This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about those moments. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.
Holy Crow! It's Friday? Again already?
(Almost spaced this post!)
This week, I'm celebrating. . .
1) A day of shopping and running around with my kids! We made a trip to the 'city' (*oooos* and *ahhhs*) this week to make sure the kids had more than just Walmart clothes for school begin. It was a drive around like silly kind of day, but we had fun.
2) Movie with my youngest! The rest of the family all had plans yesterday and left my son and me alone at home. So we decided to go see Suicide Squad. It was alright. Great effects, lame plot...but I didn't expect more.
3) A surprise calf! I had taken 3 cows to my brother for breeding purposes (he has quite the handsome bull) and was going to pick them up this week only to hear that a day or two before, one had a calf. I've been going through my notes again and again because I haven't had a bull (or even young one) at that time. So only heaven knows where that calf came from. But it's a cute and wonderful surprise.
4) My oldest made Chancellor's List! He's as proud as a peacock and hung the letter (signed by the chancellor himself) smack dab in the middle of my fridge. This kind of thing always makes a mom happy.
5) My deck is painted! My son helped me put on the last strokes... and I don't think I've ever felt so short in my entire life. You see, I had to use a ladder to do the outside railing because we're built into a hill, but at the last corner, it gets a little too steep to stand on. Since my son just happened to be passing by, I called him over (he's 6'3'') and sure enough, he just reaches up and paints it for me. He didn't even have to stand on his tip-toes or stretch or anything. *ppfffft*
What about you? What wonderful things put a smile on your face this last week? See some refreshing rain drops? Get a surprise package in the mail? Talk to someone you haven't in a while? What are you celebrating???
Congratulations to your son.
ReplyDeleteI think your cow has been sneaking out at night...
That's really strange about the cow. I would be tempted to ask if her name was Mary, but that might be considered sacrilegious, so I will resist.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest accomplishment? I can run 5 miles without stopping. But my deck needs a painting. Ug. At least it's all within reach.
I was going to write something similar to Alex's comment about the cow LOL. I bet the calf is a doll!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son. I hope you all enjoy the weeekend!
Back-to-school shopping is so much fun! And congratulations on your surprise calf. I'm not sure what a chancellor's list is, but it sounds like a good thing to be on! This week, I'm celebrating finally writing a scene that I was dreading throughout my novel!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your oldest!!
ReplyDeleteBummer about Suicide Squad. I'm thinking I'm going to wait and rent it.
Surprise calf! LOL to the comments about her sneaking off a night. I can totally see that. ^_^
Glad the deck is painted!
Pssh, tall people. Lol!
Aaaah! You probably have an alien calf.
ReplyDeleteWe had a school of alien fish one year -- a large group of greenish-black fish that we definitely did not buy for our ornamental pond. They hung around for a couple years and then disappeared. Eaten by a heron or beamed back to their mothership.
Congratulations to your oldest!
That's a lot to celebrate! Congrats on your calf. Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteBonus calf, sweet.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son. It sounds like you've got a lot to celebrate.
We'll be doing that back-to-school running around day this coming week. That's always fun. Congrats to your son! That's so funny about the calf. As Alex said, better check the lock on that barn door. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great week what with shopping, movie watching and a surprise new calf! Congrats on your son making the Chancellor's list! My husband is 6'3" and it can be so annoying when he blithely puts the blender on top of the cabinets where I can't reach it, or asks me to bring a light bulb from the top closet shelf and I can't even see up there... Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteTonja, I can relate to not being quite tall enough. lol Our son is 6'4" and it's a snap for him to do most things that require step ladder or chair. I sure do miss having him around for those hard to reach jobs. DH can get most things, but he's about half a foot shorter than DS. A surprise calf. Hmm, maybe it's an immaculate conception and I bet you were like "Holy Cow, how did that happen?" Right? LOL I know, I know that's bad. But, I couldn't resist. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm quite short, so I know that feeling. My 7 year old son is up to my shoulder, and I have the feeling he'll be taller than me before long. Yay for a painted deck, though! And congratulations on your oldest making the Chancellor's List!
ReplyDeleteI saw both Suicide Squad and Ghostbusters this week. Not stellar plots, but fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteShopping and movie watching sound wonderful. These are all great items.
