Celebrate The Small Things

Another week has gone by, but I'm not chalking it off yet. First, it's time to look back and see what wonderful things went on this last week. It's time to. . .

CELEBRATE THE SMALL THINGS!!!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about those moments. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

If you'd like to join in and add a little more joy to your week, then go ahead and sign-up on the linky below!

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Christmas Vacation! This is the last day of school for the kids. . .well, if you could call today school. They were already watching Christmas movies yesterday. So I doubt they'll have much learning to do today either. But then it's home for the holidays!

2) My tractor has a cute trailer! I wanted to show you a picture, but I can't find my hub's camera....so, I'll have to post this next week. But I found a little trailer to pull behind my tractor, and it makes hauling hay to the cows and firewood to the house SO much easier. Believe it or not, I was doing it with a wheel barrow before (up and down a hill). It burnt those calories, I guess, but pushing that thing around got old fast.

3) Scented Wax! I've been burning this more the last couple days and am enjoying the lovely odors.

4) Love notes from my daughter! My little eight-year-old has been writing mini-letters every night and placing them on the bed--always with hearts and how much she loves me. *sigh* If only these wonderful thoughts would hold all the way through those up-coming teenage years.

And since I didn't get a picture of our Christmas tree yet, here's one.

It's nothing special, a collection of whatever ornaments have survived the last twenty years...a mish-mash. But it's ten feet tall (now, that we have elevated ceilings I insisted on one that goes to the tippy top). So my husband tried for a panorama shot, which explains why the picture is so long.

And what about you? What wonderful things are you celebrating this week? Sit on Santa's lap? Eat a candy cane? Build up your secret spy cameras to get a shot of that sneaky sleigh when Christmas comes??? (Hmmm...now, I'm wondering why my kids haven't thought of this yet.)

What put a smile on your face this last week?

  1. That's really sweet of your daughter.
Our ornaments are a mish-mash. Makes for the best tree.
    Have a great Christmas!

  2. You know, you say your tree is nothing special, but I think it's so beautiful. And also big. So high.

I love scented wax but my rent contract prohibits any kind of fire in the apartment so I use diffusers with scented oil instead. Nothing beats a lovely candle or tealight but it's fine.

    Have a lovely weekend Tonja.

  3. So sweet about your daughter's love notes! I definitely think you should save them to lift your spirits when she's a teenager. I'll be looking forward to the picture of your cute little trailer. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  4. Alex - Means lots of history and stories in the tree. Have a Merry Christmas too!

Aura - :) I hear you on the candles. In Europe, we used them all of the time, but here, not so much. The wax melters are electric. Have a nice weekend!

Deanie - Saving them is a great idea!

  5. Hey, Tonja, your tree looks great! I especially love the hugeness. Also, sometimes I still can't believe you live on a farm. I have to laugh when I picture you hauling stuff up and down a hill in a wheelbarrow.

And a great big "awww" re: your daughter. Yes, save those notes, and when she's a teen and you're both getting on each others' nerves, show them to her!

  7. Lovely tree! Ours is like that, too, though not anywhere near as tall. I've pushed enough wheelbarrows around in my time to be able to appreciate that wagon. The letters from your daughter are so sweet. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

  8. Omg, I love your tree! So pretty and gigantic!! ^_^

Congratulations on the trailer! And love notes. I know you'll enjoy them while they last. ;)

You can put spy cameras up, the reindeer will eat them and get sick.

    Merry Christmas!!

  10. Lani - You could always come and help me push *nods big*

Catherine - Hiding them is so sweet!

Lori - Then you know all about wheelbarrow whoas ;)

Krystal - Lol! I hadn't thought of the reindeer eating them.

Lexa - Thanks and I'm going to have to get a special box for the notes.

  11. Keep some of those lovely notes to sustain you through the teenage years! I love things like that. Your tree looks gorgeous, you were right to insist on one that touches the ceiling.
Merry Christmas to you and the family.

  12. Your tree is magnificent! And those little notes from your daughter...how precious! My 15 year old daughter told me this week that I don't have to come to her upcoming academic team tournaments. I was all like, "I'll come. As long as I'm feeling well, I'll be there." She responds, "No mom. REALLY. Parents don't come." I'm heartbroken! Of course, now I have something to punish her with if necessary...show up to one of these tournie's with pom poms! Hahahaha! :) Merry Christmas!

  14. I've had a very, very rough week. >_< But it ended with going to see Star Wars with friends on Friday and then going to one of their houses for cookies and movie talk afterward, which is what I really needed. So things turned out all right.

And I agree that #4 is very special; I hope you hold onto those notes for a long time. ^_^
