Celebrate the Small Things!

It's Friday, a day I've been waiting for all week. And I'm betting some of you have been too. So what are we going to do on this fine day?
Well, celebrate the small things, of course!

Remember all those things this last week which put a smile on your face. The big ones, but mostly the small ones. Everyday there's a moment (however tiny) when something nice happens. And now, we remember that!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.  If you'd like to join in and add a little more joy to your week, then go ahead and sign-up on the linky below!

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Rest time! I did something to my foot last week (probably twisted a bit when my brothers made me march all over a hillside in search of a cave opening which wasn't there). The only way it's going to heal is to get off of it for awhile. Isn't it great that it just happens to be NaNoWriMonth? Now, I have the perfect excuse to sit in front of the computer all day and write.

2) Going fishing with the kids! First, let's make something clear--I am not a good fisherman. Patience is a virtue I'm still working at. But the kids had fun. They didn't catch a thing but enjoyed chasing frogs and collecting dried flowers.

3) My youngest wrote her first song/poem thingy! It was cute, but there was a line which really knocked my socks off.  "There's a storm building inside of my heart, and it's making me sad." She's only eight, so I was shocked that she thought this far. When I asked where she'd gotten it, she said that it was simply how she felt. I wish I could have thought that way at eight. It would making writing so much easier now.

And what about you?
See a last flower? Sit under the stars? Grab some hot apple cider? Find a pen in your drawer?
What put a smile on your face this last week?

  3. Having fun is all that really matter, who care if you're not very good at it :P. Getting outdoors, enjoying some fresh air and each others company, sounds awesome. Hope your foot feels better soon, but great that you can use it as an excuse to get some other things done.

  5. Hey--so sorry you hurt your ankle! But yes, in a bizarre twist of fate, it does make it easier to keep your butt in the chair :-P But congratulations on raising another generation of writers! It will be exciting to see what your daughter comes up with in the future.

  7. At least it's your ankle and not your wrist! Your daughter sounds like a budding writer herself.

  8. I am not a good fisherman, either. I can't stay still long enough to get a nibble. The important thing is that you and the children had fun. It looks like you have a budding writer in your midst. Good line by your daughter. Thanks for visiting!

  9. Perfect excuse, indeed! :D

I wrote a lot of nothing good at eight. Lol! Talent runs in the family. :) I haven't been fishing in a while, but the last time I did, I caught the biggest fish ever in my life!

  11. Sorry to hear about your foot. Go easy on it; butt definitely in chair! :) Impressive words for an 8 year old. I wrote storybooks, but I don't remember my words being so deep. Have a great weekend! Eva

  12. Sorry about your foot but yay for the silver lining of more NaNo time! I went fishing a couple of time - soooo boring. Glad your kids liked it. You're right, your daughter's line about the storm is awesome! I guess she inherited talent from you! :)

  14. Your eight-year-old daughter came up with that? She's deep! What a wonderful line, literarily speaking. Hope your foot is okay now.

  15. Aw, hope your ankle feels better quickly! But it is the best reason to sit and write. That line fro your daughter is fantastic! I don't think I could come up with stuff like that on the fly now.

  16. Very impressive poetic ability your daughter has! Sorry to hear about your foot, but yay, what a great excuse to do more writing! I'm not a fisherman either, but chasing frogs sounds like fun. Good luck with NaNo!

  19. Not sure if I have anything to celebrate this week, as it's just been exhausting and I haven't been able to get much done. Perhaps just surviving it? I think I'll go with that. >_<
