Celebrate the Small Things

It's the end of the week and time to stop and smile at all the wonderful things that happened during the last days. This happy bloghop is sponsored by Lexa Cain and helps us to remember all those little (and big) things which happened during the last week. When you sit back and think, life is worth celebrating in so many ways.

Thanks also goes to her super co-hosts:

My first celebration is figuring out how to use the camera on my Kindle...so be patient please because I'm not sure this will work as hoped.

Anyway, this is what I'm celebrating this week:

1) My book-page-rose wreath is done and hanging on the wall. Those flowers were so fun to make!

2) I stumbled across a recipe for homemade laundry detergent and made a batch. It smells so good! But I think I'm going to have to warm it up and blend it again...the bottom crystallized a little more than it should have. Oh well.

3) Flowers are popping up everywhere. And weeds, but I'm ignoring that part right now.

This year, I've been discovering all the flower beds the previous owner once had under layers of overgrown weeds. See if we can bring this place back up to what it once seemed to be.

Oh, and I did discover a snake in the rocks - a baby Copperhead. Not good. I know.

4) And last but not least, I'm celebrating an awesome week of revisions! I was stuck on my MS because although it's almost agent ready, there was still this tug in my gut that the plot isn't quite right, but I couldn't put my finger on the problem. While watching some short excerpts from the new Avenger Movie (yes, I'm a total fan-girl!), inspiration hit!
Nope, it has absolutely nothing to do with those Avengers or the movie clips, but for some reason, simply watching them made my mind click.
Inspiration is a funny thing.

Also, the wonderful Courtney King Walker stopped by for an interview today, and it turned out more fun than I thought it might. She's quite the person! But feel free to scroll down a post and take a peek. There's a giveaway too!

And what about you? Try a wonderful new slush flavor that left your taste buds tingling? Did you get your first tan? Have time to wander through a bookstore? Did a butterfly dance by your nose? What wonderful things happened to you this past week???

  1. I love your questions! No butterflies on my nose this week, but there have been some wonderful sunshine days with conversations on the dock (my kids race canoes and kayaks so I stand on the dock and talk to other parents sometimes), and I had a wonderful bike ride last weekend.
Way to go with your writing! I love it when things come together. :)

  4. I'm seeing lots of flower celebrations this week. I guess it's true about April showers - they really do bring May flowers! Yay for progress on your ms! I watch TV and often find inspiration in different shows. Have a lovely weekend! :)

  5. Tyrean - Dock conversations are just as good as butterflies!

Mere Joyce - Thanks. That's why I always have to laugh at the question 'and where did you get the idea for this' because they really drop out of nowhere.

Marilyn - Lol! Yep, onward bound!

  6. I love your wreath and how clever to make your own laundry detergent. Spring flowers all over, so lovely. Glad to hear you are moving your ms forward.

  7. Oh, Tonja, the wreath is so pretty! *waits for you to make me one* Lol!

I haven't tried making laundry detergent yet. You'll have to let me know how it works when you try it. I've been thinking about it.

Flowers!! ^_^ That's so exciting finding the different kinds hiding around. My parent's yard was like that when they first moved in.

Also, I saw the little snake! I hope there are no bigger ones around! So glad you're back in full inspiration mode! I love the Avengers, too! Seeing the movie in about an hour, actually. ^_^

  9. The wreath looks absolutely amazing and so homely (in the UK that means really cosy and home-loving just in case that isn't what it means where you are!!) I'm here via the Celebrate blog hop - I've just joined up so it's great to see what others are doing. I too am discovering a garden behind the weeds in my new house so we both have something in common :) Special Teaching at Pempi’s Palace

  10. Love the wreath, so beautiful. I don't know if you have seen my latest post, I have strayed from children's books to my first love poetry, and I have a poetry book free to download from Amazon for the next four days, Kaleidoscope, and wondered if you would be kind enough to review it? With kind regards, Carole.

  11. Copperhead - not fun!
Glad I'm not the only one who gets inspiration from movies.

  12. Lexa - It is a blooming time of year.

Suzanne - Thanks and first I have to see how well that laundry detergent cleans - I'm expecting wonders ;)

Krystal - If you're willing to wait half a year or so. And SO jealous about the movie! I'll probably wait a few days just because I prefer to avoid the crowds at the theater.

Kate - These lists always make it seem like more than when one's actually living it.

Cat - Hi! Welcome and nice to meet you. :)

    Carole - popping over now!

  13. Alex - Luckily, I was wearing my leather work gloves. Plus, he was out of there faster than me :) Lol! The right movies do wonders!

  14. Are these pictures you took on your Kindle? However you took them, they look good. Good luck with the garden and with finishing your story.

  15. Lucky you that the previous owner actually planted flowers! When we got our house, we had almost nothing but WAY overgrown shrubs. We spent the first 3 years SUBTRACTING. *cue buzz of an electric saw*

This week, I'm celebrating that I got myself to NYC and back via Amtrak on Saturday (alone) and actually enjoyed myself doing it.

  16. Congrats on your secret flower beds! Not so much on your snake, though.

I LOVE the rose wreath. Also, you make your own laundry detergent, Martha Stewart?

    Congratulations on you revisions!

  17. You made that wreath? Oh my goodness. That is so awesome. I made my own detergent for a while, but I never could keep it blended and then got the new HE washer and needed something more powerful to get the clothes clean.

It's funny where inspiration comes from, but no matter where you get it, run with it!

  18. What an awesome wreath! And I love it that the flowers are coming up everywhere too. Our tulips have been up and gone. Such a short blooming season for them this year, but the lilies are coming out now. Great work on your revisions! :)
