Celebrate the Small Things

Yay! I love this time of the week. Thanks to Lexa Cain and her wonderful co-hosts. . .

L.G. Keltner @ Writing Off The Edge
Katie @ TheCyborgMom

we get to sit down and remember all those little things this past week that put a smile on our faces. And who doesn't love to smile????

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) My daughter has her first official job! She's working as a waitress and managed a total of $60 on tips her first night. Go girl!

2) Lovely smells!  Okay, that sounds weird. My son gave me half-a-dozen scented wax things for Mother's Day. I have a wax melter but have never used it very often. Now, in order to keep up, I'm running it every day.

3) Sleeping in! Which is why this post is late. With the kids off of school and summer's long days, our schedule has shifted slightly. Which means lazy mornings full of kid-hugs in bed! (Okay, maybe that's a separate thing to celebrate)

4) Rain??? No. I'm not going to celebrate that... at least, not as much as we've been getting. BUT we did manage to get our pool up and running, and the kids slip in every storm-free moment they get. Not me, though. That water is cold!

5) Lots of ARCs from awesome authors! So many friends are bringing out books this next month and needed reviews. I think I might have over-extended myself a bit, but I'm more than happy to drown in awesome books. . .even if it means the undoing of me??? Oh yeah!

And, I might have something to make some of you smile. There's a brand, new email newsletter out from a fantastic group who loves one thing - YA Books! It's free too. If you're interested, head on over to Bookworm for Kids and take a peek.

What about you? What wonderful things are you celebrating? Discover a lost earring under the bed? Did a frog sing you to sleep? Stumble across an awesome book in the library? What put a smile on your face???

  1. Congratulations on your daughter's job! Damn--waitressing is lucrative. Maybe I should take it up. Also I love lovely smells, so celebrating is nothing to be ashamed of. I just bought a new bar of soap just because it smelled like berries!

Oh, thank God for sleeping late. Thank God, thank God, thank God.

    Congratulations also on your newsletter!

    1. I know! I'm thinking I should apply there too (but who will look after the kids?????)

  2. Chilling out with the kids sounds good to me! Congrats on your daughter's new job too.
I love scented candles and melts, enjoy your new aromas!

    1. I've been basking in fresh red apple. Maybe it's time for something more flowery.

  3. Congrats all around- your daughter's first job, the newsletter, scented things. Enjoy.

  4. LOL to number 5, haha. Greta job, though!
    Urgh. Little things....
I ate quiche! I've been wanting quiche for months and finally bought myself a slice. Not as great as I remember, but still something delicious.
Another thing...I learned my amor rose in ranks. Happy for him :)
I slept in too, although I ended up looking like cr-- that day haha.

  5. It depends on who makes the quiche. Yay to the rise in ranks and sleeping in. One doesn't always have to be beautiful ;)

  6. Cold water?? Tonja! >:( WHERE'S your sense of adventure?

In other news, I received glad tidings from my eye doctor. I received laser surgery to remove the crud left over from the cataract surgery. My vision improved! I just need those expensive Dollar Tree(TM) reading glasses!

  7. What a great list of things to celebrate! There's no better excuse for a late post than kid-hugs in bed. Rain and even your cold pool sound awfully appealing as the mercury hits 110 this week in Egypt. I'm melting faster than your scented waxes! :O

  8. This all looks like a fantastic start to your summer.

    Yay for your daughter.

  9. To #1, I say awesome! To #3, that's always nice.

  10. Sleeping in sounds awesome! I did this yesterday, and still managed to be tired all day...what's with that? Congrats to your daughter! My daughter just starting umpiring softball for the younger girls...her first job too! She makes $25 per game...not too bad!!

  11. Lots to celebrate this week--congrats to your daughter, and I hope you get to sleep in more often!

  12. Congrats to your daughter! Awesome week! Thanks for the tip on Bookworm for kids!

I would love to hear your valuable Tidbits -
