Time to Celebrate those Small Things!

Howdy!  And yep, I'm even tipping my straw hat to you. Another week has trotted on by. . .okay, trot is too slow. It went past with super speed. . .and that leaves us with another round of. . .

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by Vikki over at Viklit. The sole purpose is to help us realize what small celebrations happen every day and add a smile to our lips. Luckily, she doesn't have to do this alone and has some awesome helpers:

Diana Wilder
LG Keltner @ Writing Off the Edge
Katie @ TheCyborg Mom
CaffeMaggieato @ mscoffeehouse

Go on over to Vikki's and sign up on the linky if you'd like to join the fun.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Apples. Remember that wonderful neighbor who supplied me with all that corn? Now, it's gone over into apples. I can smell all the fresh baked wonderfulness already flowing through the house. Yum!

2) My husband has been pushing quite a few over hours lately, so yesterday he took the day off. When we headed into town to drop off something at the high school- a uniform my daughter had forgotten - we spontaneously decided just to keep on driving to a town an hour away. We spent a fun day visiting hardware stores (yes, we have an odd sense of fun), antique stores and lunch.

3) Cookies. My younger kids sold cookie dough as a fund raiser, and I ended up buying more than planned (why does that always happen?) So right now, every day means a fresh baked batch of cookies. Guess what? They disappear just as fast too.

What about you? Love the smell of apple pies? Maybe pumpkin? When was the last time you did something completely spontaneous and just kept on driving? (It's good for the soul) Love cookies? Want to buy several batches from us next year??? (just joking!)
In other words, what wonderful things happened to YOU this week?

  1. Apple pie & cookies...I'm coming to your house! What a fun day w/ your hubby---I dont' mean the hardware store, btw. I'm talking about the spontenaiety and the wanting to spend time together.

  3. Seriously, I need to get neighbors like yours. All mine ever do is turn up the music too loud. :-P

Glad you and your husband got some time away together.

Oh, and if you're ever at a loss for what to do with all those extra cookies . . . I'll send you my home address. ;-)

  4. Apples!! Score. ^_^
You know, I've been horribly tempted to try out that driving thing. Just go away for an afternoon. That DOES sound good for the soul.

Fyi: I will take cookies and apple pie via carrier owl or pigeon. ;-)

  5. Alex - Ah! Then I better throw in a few more sheets full!

Nicki - The more the merrier.

Marilyn - It was a fun week!

Ilana - Uh....could do with where you live, City Girl. *does drawl* Out 'ere in the country, folks try to be a little friendly like ;) Seriously, we had great neighbors in the city too (but also terrible ones.)

Krystal - Go for it! Just jump in the car one morning and drive. My mom did that when we were kids for camping trips. She'd tell my father on Friday morning "I'm going to pack up the van and tonight we'll head out." They never knew where they would go either. We'd just drive a said direction and see where we landed. And we were 7 kids ;)

  6. Mmm, apples! I don't think I've ever just gotten in the car and driven without any plan to, but I have gone on some interesting trips far away when hunting for some item (that's usually pointless, but becomes a quest when it can't be found in the typical stores), or for a good meal!

  7. I love the smell of fresh baked apple pie! And I don't blame you for buying more cookie dough than you needed...can you ever really have too much? I think not!
