Celebrate the Small Things

This weekly blog hop is sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain,  and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.

What exactly are we celebrating?

Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) A new family member... or pack expansion? We have the misfortune of living near a dirt road, which people from town have deemed as a good place to dump unwanted dogs. It's a big hassle. Usually. Today, however, a several month old puppy showed up at our doorstep and melted my son's heart. It's super sweet and was immediately accepted by our older dog. So, I guess we have a new member in our household until my son moves to his own apartment this coming summer.

2) New story underway! Now, that the holidays are past, things have quieted down. A little, at least. I've had time to finally sit down and plot out a manuscript I've been wanting to work on for over a year. And it's flowing better than I thought it might. Hopefully, it stays that way.

3) Chocolate! I've been munching on my Christmas gifts this week and enjoying every single bite.

What about you? What put a smile on your face this past week? Get some great after-Christmas deals? Head out with a sled and slide down some hills? Dive into a great book?

What are you celebrating?

  1. How could anyone say no to that puppy face?

  2. Oh, what an adorable puppy! It was meant to be :-) And who wouldn't celebrate chocolate. I know I would.

  3. It never ceases to amaze me that anyone would deem it okay to just drop an unwanted pet on the side of the road. Bravo to you for the love you show to animals. Chocolate. My one vice. Okay...so maybe I have other vices. Good luck on your new work in progress. I wish you every success in 2018!

  4. Aww, puppy! So happy he found a better home. And I'm hoping great things for the new story!! ^_^

    Always gotta celebrate chocolate. :D

  5. That's sad that people dump animals there, but at least you're there. You can at least make sure they get take to the humane society or adopt them like you did this puppy.

  6. Ooh cute puppy!

Best of luck with the new manuscript!

  7. Aww....a sweet puppy for Christmas. Have fun with the little guy. Sad people drop off dogs like that. Good you were there to help. Good luck with the new manuscript. I'm hoping I can map out some time for mine. I've been crazy busy. Happy New Year!

  8. A new dog and chocolate are definitely worth celebrating. ^_^ And that's awesome that the new plotting is going well - it's a great feeling to work on that and have it work out.

  9. I'm glad that cute puppy got a good home! A lot of animals got dropped off near the house where I grew up.

Good luck with your new story!

  10. Tonja,

That's awful when people abandon animals. I remember folks in southern WV would do the same thing. I'm glad this little guy has a new home now. Hooray on the new story! Having chocolate is always a reason to celebrate. :) I did not venture out after Christmas to look for special deals. I'm sure there wasn't anything that would interest me anyhow and I certainly did not need any more candy. We bought some and I made a lot, so I'm ready to call it quits on the sweets for a bit. Have an awesome week and thanks for dropping by, my friend!

  11. We have the same animal dumping issue because we live in a rural area. Unfortunately, we also have coyotes and mountain lions, so those poor abandoned creatures that don't find a welcoming door often end up dinner.

    Congrats on your new story!

I would love to hear your valuable Tidbits -
