Celebrate the Small Things with a touch of mystery

This weekly blog hop is sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.

What exactly are we celebrating?

Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Rain! I might as well celebrate this one because we are getting tons of it this week. The world is turning green and lush with it, and my cows are chomping away. Flowers are popping up everywhere (we're ignoring the weeds and bugs). Now, all I need is a Kayak, and I'll be in seventh heaven.

2) Banana Bread! I found a lovely recipe packed with walnuts, butter and streusel on top.

3) Since I'm on food. . .sweet potato fries! There's a sports bar in town (I have to smile because our small, farming town does now have one) and they have the most delicious sweet potato fries. So crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and the coating has a touch of nutmeg. They come with marshmallow dip, but that's not my thing. Too sweet (can't believe I'm saying that!)

4) Picture Books! (This one is a bit of a mystery to me) As most of you know, I've been sucked up heavily into the world of book reviewing. One of my favorite parts is the constant arrival of wonderful books in the mail (it's like Christmas a couple of times a week!). For some reason, the last 6 months have taken a huge lean toward picture books thanks to a few publishing companies. Anyhoo, a couple of weeks ago, I've started to get a picture book every week from one of the big publishers. Weird thing is, I can't remember ever agreeing to review any of the book titles. I've checked my emails...my social media sites...everything I could think of, but there's no sign of anything. Nope. Nada.
Still, the books keep coming. Once a week. Lovely, beautiful, hot off the press picture books.
So I've been reviewing them. What else is a girl to do?
Still, I'd love to know how/why I'm getting the sudden influx.
Mystery upon mystery.

So what about you? What are you celebrating this week? A cup of hot coffee? Maybe tea? A surprise trip? A funny video clip? What put a smile on your face?

  1. Yum on the banana bread and the sweet potato fries! :)

  2. That banana bread recipe sounds delish!!! What a cool mystery. We have so much rain too, my husband had to pump out the back yard...

  3. Yes, we could use some rain, too. And I could use some banana bread!

  4. Marshmallow dip? Interesting. LOL! They fries sound awesome, though. As does banana bread. Yum.

I LOVE picture books! I need more. I'll take some off your hands. Not that they're hard to read or anything. ^_^

We, too, are drowning in rain. April showers are really showing off this month, huh? :)

  5. Mystery of the picture books . . . maybe there is a story in there! I LOVE sweet potato fries too, although I think I'm going pass on the dip! Hope you see some sunshine soon.

  6. Oh my gosh I LOVE sweet potato fries. I started drooling just reading about them LOL.
We have had a ton of rain here too. I'm glad your cows are enjoying all the green grass. :)

  7. I've never been able to enjoy sweet potatoes...I think it's a brain thing (sweet potatoes = potatoes, and potatoes aren't meant to be sweet!)

Hope you are enjoying the picture book reviewing =)

  8. I love sweet potato fries! I guess I'd celebrate seeing a new Broadway show yesterday with my besties. Also, it's sunny after almost a full week of cloudy and overcast, so that's nice, too!

  9. Hmm. Interesting the mystery books. I review books for childrenslit.com. I'm not as fast as they would like, but my payment is 5 books. Most get passed down to my grandchildren, but libraries like too I'm told. I keep thinking I don't have time, but then I would miss these gorgeous books. I get a mix of nonfiction, MG and Ya fiction and sometimes a picture book. Hard to resist, as you've discovered! Looks good on the resume too :)

  10. Rain is a lovely blessing, as long as it's not too much at once. Currently it's pouring down and thundering in my neck of the woods in Kansas City. Banana bread? I am already smelling the lovely aromas. I will need to make some and remedy this craving. Thank you. Have a lovely weekend. :)

  11. Yay for rain and happy cows! I adore banana bread with walnuts. I used to make it along with cranberry nut bread. Yum! So weird about the mystery picture books. Maybe there's a Publishing Santa who has your name on his list. lol

I would love to hear your valuable Tidbits -
