Celebrate the Small Things

Happy Friday!!! It's time to celebrate those small things!

This weekly blog hop is sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.

What exactly are we celebrating?

Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

First, I need to apologize. I missed IWSG this month . . .again! I could kick myself because that means two months in a row, and I really, really, really wanted to hit it this time. So I'm circling the date for January in my calendar in bright red. See if that does the trick.

Now, on to celebrations!

1)  My son bought a Jeep! He changes vehicles faster than I switch shoes. This is the main reason I missed IWSG too. He took a friend's advice and purchased one through an online auction...a 4 1/2 hour drive away. This friend was supposed to drive down with him to pick it up but backed out. So I got pulled in. It was a long but lovely drive (9 hours). We even went through a small snow storm.

Yes, he bought me a nice, big dinner too.

2) Christmas decorations are all up! Cookies are baked too. Now, I just have to get those cards written, packages sent off and last presents bought. Then it's time to kick back and relax. Yeah right.

3) Eggnog with a shot of rum. Yum. Yum.

What about you? What put a smile on your face this last week? See some pretty lights? Find a good book? Try something new? What are you celebrating?

  3. Promise you won't miss it in January and I won't take you off the list!
We're all decorated for Christmas here as well.

  4. I love eggnog! I just wish it wasn't so fattening because if I have just one cupful, then I want many, many more.

  5. I forgot too. Well, I remembered at 11:50 and posted something really fast thinking I could get in under the wire...but no! I posted a half hour late. I don't even have a good excuse- I just forgot what day it was.

I have most of my decorations done. I'm putting up more tomorrow and donating what I don't use. I give myself until the 12th and what doesn't go up, I get rid of.

    1. Thanks a good idea. I'm going to sort when putting away and get rid of some stuff too. Otherwise, it just sits around.

    1. We're just early. We've made it a family tradition to buy the tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving and put it up on Sunday. That way, I have no excuses to put it off. (Heaven knows I'm an awesome procrastinator otherwise :) )

  7. For pity's sake, woman, stop apologizing that you missed something! You're only human. You can't do everything all the time. :-P

But congrats on your son's Jeep. May it carry him safely over those bumpy country roads! And congrats on getting all that Christmas stuff done. You deserve that rum! No last-minute shopping for you. ;-) This week I am celebrating . . . making it thru another week. *headdesk* *thunk* ;-)

  8. I've never had egg nog with rum! Love egg nog though. ^_^ Congratulations to your son! And to getting all the decorations up!! Go you! I put out a few less decorations, but I still need to get a tree up. Going with the smaller tree this year. :)

  9. With friends like that, your son's lucky he has a kind and supportive mother! My husband wanted a car. I suggested he buy the old, but well-taken-care-of Peugeot of his friend. Instead, he drove 6 hrs to Cairo and got a tiny Toyota (he's about 6'2"). He bought it only coz Toyota has a good rep here, it's like a prestige car. But it was a lemon and ended up stranding him constantly and costing twice what he paid for it. He should have listened to his smarter and more experienced wife...

  10. Tonja, Driving through a snow storm does not sound fun. Tell your son he owes you more than one dinner. lol He's a lucky kid to have you in his corner, though. I still need to get my Christmas village put up and I have a dozen more cards to get out. I have my shopping done. Now, I need to wrap the gifts. I have a few more goodies to make and...there's a special project I need to hit hard starting next week to get done before Christmas. Phew, I'm going to have a melt down after the holidays. :D

  11. Glad to hear about things going well for you, as always. I hate to say it but I have nothing at all to celebrate this week. >_< Things have been rough as hell and signs point to them not letting up anytime soon.

But I agree with you about the egg nog.

  12. I like egg nog, but I haven't had it in a long time. This might be the year to resurrect it - with a German exchange student ready to try anything (and shame my daughters into trying it too).

Speaking of our new daughter, she recently confessed her desire to stay the whole school year instead of just a semester. We are on board with that plan, since we love her like our own. Her Visa needs to be changed, but we have lots to celebrate this fall!
