Celebrate the Small Things...

It's time for another edition of. . .

CELEBRATE THE SMALL THINGS!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about those moments. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

Ho-whoa. I'm late again...and really should write these a few days in advance.

But this week, I'm celebrating:

1) Iced Tea! The temperatures are going up (90's) and the humidity is soaring with it, which means TONS of ice tea for me.

2) Writing buddies! I'm still at the nightly sprints over on twitter - always 9:30pm EST for one hour. We've gotten into such a routine that we don't even say much but just scream out our progress at 10:30 EST. It keeps me writing or editing or whatever even if it's only a little every day. If you want to join in, just let me know.

3) Subways! My son got this sudden idea that he wanted to order a 6ft sub for fun. Honestly, he wanted to buy the 27 ft, which I explained how ridiculous that would be unless he invited our entire town for dinner, but after a little thinking and talking, he realized that even the 6ft is quite the monster to chow down.  Believe it or not, we had that thing gone in two days! That meant two days of no cooking or many dishes for me...which always makes for a happy mommy.

What about you? What put a smile on your face? Sing in the sun? Try something crazy this last week? Get to read a good book? What are you celebrating???

  1. That's a really big sub. With only two of us, my wife and I would've taken a week to eat it all.

    1. Lol! Which would be horrible...it's amazing how awful a sub looks after eating it every meal (except for breakfast) for those 2 days.

  2. Hey, so glad to see you are still doing the sprints! You are inspiring and helping a lot of writers out there.

I have to laugh at your son and the six-foot sub (hmmm . . . there must be a picture book in there somewhere). Love the photo. I keep picturing a cartoon where your son opens his mouth and someone shoves the sub in from the opposite end of the table. ;-)

    1. Haha! I didn't even notice that, but the picture does look like that. That's not the son who bought the sub...the one in the picture actually kept tearing the meat and cheese out of his and nibbling on those parts later. Picky!

  3. I love the idea of the six foot sub. But I'm thinking, my kids already eat a foot long in a sitting, so that would leave me with just a foot of leftovers after the first night, because my husband and I split a sub.

  4. That sub is HUGE! I love sandwiches. It's one of the essential American culinary delights. And no cooking or dishes sounds like a great vacation. Good for you for letting your son decide on something and see what it was like. I'm left wondering how they delivered it...

  5. My goodness, that's a huge sub! Glad everyone enjoyed it. Iced tea is helpful when it's hot out. Glad you're enjoying it. :)

  6. Whoa! Look at that sub!!! That's crazy! Any day I don't have to cook or do dishes is a good day. :) Where do you even find such a thing?

    Yay sprints!! ^_^
They've been keeping me from getting too lazy!

  7. It made me laugh that your son wanted the 27 ft sub. LOL I didn't even though they came that big. I can imagine you chowed down on this one because it looks so yummy.
    Happy weekend!

  9. That sub is huge. Now I'm in the mood for one. I'm not drinking iced tea, but plenty of lemonade.

  10. That is... a lot of sandwich. And that's kind of awesome. ^_^ Much as I hate to say it, I think the only things I can celebrate recently are of the "I survived this" or "this didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would" variety, so... yeah.

  11. Ok, now I'm hungry. And I've done a few writing sprints but most of my friends aren't on my time zone so it makes it hard. Great seeing you again!!

  12. That sub makes me hungry. I'm on a low carb diet which may or may not be working, and although I miss bread, sugar wreaks havoc. Mmm... Bread.
