Celebrate the Small Things

It's time for another edition of. . .

CELEBRATE THE SMALL THINGS!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about those moments. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

If you'd like to join in and add a little more joy to your week, then go ahead over to Lexa's or simply pop by the linky below!

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

The last days have been a little more crazy/ridiculous than usual. So sitting back and thinking about something to celebrate wasn't easy this week, but here we go. . .(good thing we have this hop!)

1) Tea/hot chocolate/lattes - This is one thing I've loved the past days. Whenever things get over the top, grabbing a mug of steamy warmness and sitting down with only thoughts on that mug is a wonderful little oasis for me. It's like taking a mini-time out.

2) Having hubs around. Bad side - he was laid off for a few weeks (no, this is by far not the biggest wave maker of my week). BUT he's been around, helping with chores and catching up on some farm work that gives me a little trouble (I'm NOT muscle woman despite what my family sometimes thinks).

3) Writing time! With hubs around, I've been able to plant my backside at this laptop and type away. Considering I'm the world's slowest writer (yes, I'm going to take this title with my chin up), this has been horribly helpful . . . .and nice.

4) Anime series - Okay, I probably shouldn't be celebrating this because it's been eating away more of my time than it should. But I've been discovering all sorts of fun little shows that I didn't know existed. And my youngest daughter enjoys them as much as I (my older ones think I'm crazy - good!), so she's been sitting on my lap in the evening and watching youtube with me. Got to love those little girl snuggles!

And what about you? Having a great week? Or are clouds over your head? What put a smile on your face? A snowball fight? Ice skates? Coconut juice? A new picture to hang on the wall?

What are you celebrating?

  1. Well, glad your husband was able to help you out and give you some writing time. Hope the layoff was a temporary thing.

  2. Yes, like Alex, I hope the layoff is temporary and short.

This week I'm celebrating being allowed to walk again and drive a car short distances. A trip out to get an allergy shot was like FREEEEDOM!

(And then, because we have family locator apps on our phones, my daughter came home from school and asked, "Who let Mom out? My phone says she went out! Is she allowed out?" -- Ha, ha. Very funny.)

  3. Here's hoping the layoff is short! And snuggles are so nice. :) I'm celebrating some very warm weather coming in this weekend and getting outside to enjoy it.

  4. There's nothing better than hot steamy drinks.
As others have said I hope the layoff is temporary. Take care!

  5. It sucks that your husband was (hopefully temporarily) laid off, but at least you got to spend more time with him.
I love a nice hot chocolate when I'm feeling down, with whipped cream and marshmallows! Yum :)

  6. Mmmmmm... hot chocolate. With marshmallows. I love it. I hope your husband is able to get back to work soon. It's nice for him to be home and helping out, though. My kids like anime, too. Some of their favorite books are Japanese manga. Have a great weekend!

  7. Yay for tea and writing, and husband time and writing time! Anime can be so much fun to watch. :)

    Happy life and writing!

  8. I'm glad it's just a few weeks. It's good your daughter thinks you're crazy. Lol! I love anime! Downtime is so good for the soul. I'm so glad to hear that you're getting some in! ^_^

  9. Glad your little girl likes cuddles. Such a special thing to share. Hope your hubby gets a job soon. It's a stressful time for everyone. Hope you have a fun weekend.

  10. Warm beverages are an oasis for me too. Being a slow writer is far better than not getting any writing done at all. Have a great weekend!

  11. I'm sorry to hear your week's been stressful. We all face that now and again, and it's good you managed to find some silver linings in the dark clouds even if it took some looking! I hope your next week goes much better!

  12. Oh, and if you're a "slow" writer, I'm a "non" writer. I was supposed to finish outlining and start my novella in Dec. Here it's practically Feb and I haven't written a word. :P

  13. At least you get to spend more time with your husband and he gets ore time with the kids. You have to find the upside in every down...

  14. Good thing there was an upside to your husband getting laid off. A warm drink and a bunch of great videos sounds heavenly.

  17. Thank you for posting on my blog. I KNEW there was a blog hop I was supposed to be doing on Fridays but couldn't remember the name of it. I lost a lot of information when my old computer died. So coming here to read your post and comment also gave me useful information on the blog hop I'm supposed to be doing.

  19. I'm celebrating a full week in my new apartment. ^_^ Right now the fire's going, as is the dryer - not sure which I like more, having a gas fireplace for a furnace or not having to go to a laundromat any more.

Really hope your husband's time unemployed is over soon, though. I've been without a job for many months before, and it sucks. >_<

  23. I'd be willing to fight you for the title of world's slowest writer. And I bet I'd win. Glad you're getting more time to write.
