We're off. . .to Celebrate those Small Things!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about those moments. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Rain! Finally, after more than enough days of warm weather, cool breezes have come our way. The browning grass is probably celebrating too.

2) Good news about our dog! He had a strange lump on his leg, which the vet suspected was cancer. So we had it removed and sent in. This week, we received news that it was an in-grown hair gone crazy. In other words, no worries there.

3) Decorating my writing space! I'm going to have to take pictures soon. I found a wall sticker online to help cheer up the blank walls. I also added a secret candy stash (shhhh....the kids are NOT allowed to know about this). I'm a munchy fan and do my best work while chewing on something. . .or at least, that's what I tell myself. As to the writing space, I'm still missing a couple of spiffer-uppers, but it's getting there. I'm thinking a Firefly poster or something like that is still missing. Hmmmm....

What about you? What put a smile on your face this last week?
Go to a good movie? Find a new hat which fits just right? Make a wrong turn somewhere only to realize it was probably better than the planned one?
What are you celebrating this week?

I'm also thrilled to help Julie Flanders celebrate her new release this past week:

Baby Moo has a dream. He wants to travel the world and sing on the stage of the Sydney Opera House!
While he loves his home at Sunrise Sanctuary, it hasn’t been the same since a piglet named Nathan showed up and stole all the attention away from Moo. Jealous of the new baby, Moo decides now is the time to make his escape and pursue his dream.
But the world outside the sanctuary gates is not quite the fun and exciting place Moo imagined, and he quickly finds himself in big trouble. Moo's friends Missy the dog and Ruthie the cat rush to help him, and land in some trouble of their own.
Lost and frightened, Moo and his friends must rely on each other to find their way back home. Will they ever see Sunrise again?

Julie Flanders will donate $1 to Sunrise Sanctuary, home to Baby Moo and numerous other rescued animals, for each copy sold in September.

  7. Oh wow, so glad your dog is okay! I never knew an ingrown hair could cause that kind of trouble. Thank goodness it wasn't cancer.

  8. Congratulations on your rain, your writing space, and especially your dog. It's like I always say: "Benign is just fine!" :-D

YES--post pics of your writing space. I want to see! Also, a Firefly poster is essential for every professional author's office. True fact.

As for me, this week, I'm celebrating the distinct possibility of finishing one of the longest, most complex books I've ever written--one I've been wanting to write for years, and that challenged me in numerous ways. So . . . yaaay!

Hope you have a great weekend! :-D

  9. Decorating?! Yay! Yes, pictures! I love seeing people's writing space. ^_^

Good news for the doggie! And I am so happy to see some slightly cooler weather myself. The humidity is lifting if nothing else, which helps a lot.

  13. I'm jealous about the rain. We are dying over here in terrible heat. We lost the largest koi in our pond this week, and we suspect oxygenation problems because of the temperature. We were very sad. They were so beautful.

  14. Glad to hear your dog's problem was nothing to worry about. It's so easy to get scared about stuff like that, though. >_<

And this week, I'm celebrating my recovery from an awesome DragonCon and that I'm heading off to a writers' conference on Friday. I swear I'm on vacation for half of September. Oi!
