Celebrate the Small Things

This weekly blog hop is sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain  and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge

What exactly does this celebrate?

Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

Due to lack of time, I've decided to no long co-host with L.G.. I will still be here and hopping around, but I found it harder and harder to really visit everyone during the weekends and post constantly. IF anyone is interested in taking my place, I'm sure L.G. would love the help, so please let her know if you're interested!

This week was cold and has left me celebrating. . .

1) Snow! We actually got snow. An entire 1 1/2 inches *gasp*! I grew up in the Denver area, so this is more of a light dusting, in my opinion. But here, in the Ozarks, it was enough to cancel school for 4 days. They have a huge fear of ice here. . .as in overly gigantic fear. . .but the kids loved the free time.

2) Smoked ribs! We gave my husband a smoker for Christmas, and he finally gave it a try. We made 6 pounds of spare ribs and oh, they were good!

3) Hugs! Especially those from my kids. The cold weather has made them cuddlier than usual. And I've been enjoying every second.

What put a smile on your face this last week? Did you go sledding? Buy your first pair of shorts for the far-approaching summer? Find a warm pair of gloves in the bottom of your drawer?

What are you celebrating?

  3. Hugs are always worth celebrating. ^_^

Yep, similar fear of snow here. We finally got about two inches on Tuesday, and even though the roads have been clear since Wednesday, the kids have been out of school all week, including last Friday when it sleeted some. It's just so funny because I went to college a tiny bit further north and sometimes had to walk to class in a foot of snow. I loved it though. ^_^

  4. Mine was off from school too. Lots of of snow, ice, and cold here too. Ice scares me too. I can maneuver through snow, but ice makes me nervous. I hate to even walk on it, much less try to drive on it.

  5. Four days off of school - wow! The kids must have been in heaven. I always looked forward to snow days growing up.

  6. Ooh those smoked ribs sound good!
Not exactly the same thing, but my cat has been super cuddly all winter, and I love it. I don't even care that she only wants snuggles to steal my body heat!

  7. My mom's down in North Carolina because my brother's cancer is evil and she said everything shut down when they got some snow, but now it's all gone.

  8. I have to chuckle because here in Buffalo we get loads of snow. Hugs are always always a good thing!!! Tonja, thank you for all the years of co-hosting. Blog hopping takes up a lot of time, I understand.

Tonja, your review put a huge smile on my face. Thank you.

  9. Mmm, smoked ribs. Yum! We had a few canceled days here too. We did get out one day to sled, and it was so much fun. Have a terrific week! :)

  10. I've been considering a smoker for a while. You may have pushed me into that purchase. I'm already tasting those ribs.
