Celebrate Those Small Things

This weekly blog hop is sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.

What exactly are we celebrating?

Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Walking through the forest! With the grassing growing, it was time to move the cattle to the 'upper' field. To get there, I have to walk up a dirt road through a band of forest. It's not a long walk (5-7 mins), but it's lovely to hear the bugs and wildlife, see the trees and simply suck in the moment of nature and solitude.

2) Morel Mushrooms! Since we moved here a few years ago, neighbors have been gushing about the large amounts of morels which grow in the area. They come back with bags full. Us? We've looked and searched and never found a single one. But two days ago, my husband stumbled across a patch on a secluded hill on our property. Last night, we had our first taste of our very own morels!

3) Chocolate! (This is ALWAYS one of my favorite things to celebrate) I received a box on my bday last week and have been enjoying a piece or two every afternoon with a cup of tea. These are moments of heaven!

And what about you? What put a smile on your face this last week? See a pretty bird? Hear a song you haven't heard in ages? Get some new socks?

What are you celebrating?

  2. Some of my best memories was walking through the woods looking for stray cattle, usually a newborn the mom hid, with my grandma.

  3. You guys have a forest-lined path?!! That's amazing. ^_^ What is also amazing is the fact that you still have that box of chocolate. Lol!

  7. So when you move the cows, do they just follow you? Do you pick the "leader" and lead him/her there? Yay for mushrooms and for chocolate! Yum!

  9. Mushrooms and chocolate are definitely things to be happy about... though perhaps not together. :P I'm happy that one of my beta readers is absolutely loving my book, which was encouragement I dearly needed.
