Celebrate the Small Things

This weekly blog hop is sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.

What exactly are we celebrating?

Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Sunshine! It's makes the world seem so bright and warms the cheeks. I leaned against a fence post this last week after feeding cattle and simply enjoyed the warmth.

2) A new monitor! Well, new for me. My oldest son bought himself a new one and left his old one to me. Old = half a year in his book. But it's a big one (27 inch) and has a stand which lets it slide up and down or turn head over toes (well, if monitors had toes). Anyway, I can put two documents right next to each other and still read them! I'm a happy writer.

3) The chickens are laying more eggs. Finally. I find it frustrating to feed 24 chickens and MAYBE get 1 egg a day. Kind of makes me wonder why I even have them. But as long as they make up for it, I'll forgive them.

4) Broccoli cheese soup! I made a crock pot full this week with home-made Flat bread. Cream soups are one of my favorite comfort foods when the days are still a little chilly.

What about you? What put a smile on your face this last week? Get to play in the snow? Go swimming? Clean those windows? Catch a ray of sunshine? Finish your MS?

What are you celebrating?

  1. That's a decent sized monitor. While I don't change out my computer equipment quite that often, after three years I think of it as old.

  3. I love to make soup as well. Tend to go more for the veggies and beans than cream. We also stop by Panera for soup every couple of weeks. I've gotta see if I can steal their recipes somewhere. The summer squash one is out of this world.

    1. I love squash soup! My kids aren't big fans of beans (although I like them a lot myself). Go get those recipes!

  4. Your soup comment has me craving some myself now. My latest joy has been rediscovering how much I love the gym and getting to go with my wife has made it even more exciting!

  6. A friend of mine sells eggs from her chickens. She said they had to reach a level of maturity before they started being productive layers. I think she;s almost overwhelmed with eggs now. Some weeks, I'll buy a dozen and she'll bring me three just so she doesn't waste them.

  9. How cool that you have a new monitor! I can't even imagine seeing my stuff on one that's 27". I'm glad your chickens are cooperating. I love cream soups anytime, anywhere. Have a great weekend!

  10. Tonja, Oh sunkist cheeks on a winter's day is so nice! It just reminds me that spring isn't too far away. Mmm, I love broccoli soup! I haven't made any in a long time. I really must this problem and make a big pot of it for us but then I think about the cheese...all that fattening cheese. Oh, bother! Why can't foods be zero calories? :) Big monitors are nice! 27" is quite noticeably bigger even compared to my 21". Have a good week and thanks for popping in for a visit! ;)

  12. We actually had two days of (partial) sunshine this week. It's still cold, but at least it gives me hope that warmer days are coming.
