Celebrating those Small Things Again!

It's time for another edition of. . .

CELEBRATE THE SMALL THINGS!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about those moments. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

Cooler temperatures! It is about 10 degrees cooler this week, but with 70-80% humidity, stepping out the door still means sweating like a waterfall. Still, we can do the chores without falling over and gasping for air somewhere in the weeds. I didn't lie in the weeds (too many ticks and chiggers), but some of my family members did. Such situations call for a spray down with the garden hose!

Rainbows! Several rain clouds have pulled over this week, and we've been blessed with lovely rainbows over our little valley. Yesterday, we even had a double. Yes, my shovel is at the ready to dig up that pot o' gold. Hmmm...leprechauns in the Ozarks?

What about you? What put a smile on your face this last week? Get some writing done? Climb a mountain? Find a fantastic new Slushie flavor? Get a hair cut?
What are you celebrating?

  1. I hear you on the humidity. It's been so awful here! I'm hoping for a little break from it this weekend.
Love the rainbows! What a great thing to celebrate.

    1. Here's wishing you dryness. Lots and lots of dryness.

  2. We've been really hot and humid but should get a break this weekend. Nothing like stepping outside and instantly needing a shower.

    1. I think some of my family members are trying to simply move into the shower.

  3. I love double rainbows! I had a really nice one in front of condo one day earlier this year.

Eek, creatures! Definitely no lying in the grass! We had a nice, cooler day yesterday, but yes, humid.

    1. Yay to that rainbow! Hope you took pics. As to creatures--I'm seriously getting my fill this year. The dog brought in fleas earlier this summer, which we got rid of pronto and now the chiggers. Talk about a scratch festival.

  4. YOUR FAMILY LIED DOWN IN THE WEEDS?? Is it okay if I'm celebrating having the common sense not to do that? ;-P Then again, this from the girl who once drove her car into a house, so . . .

  5. Chiggers are the worst. My kids were full of them in the spring. I don't know if they got them at home or from the school playground/track and field areas.

    1. Now, if we can keep it that way. But this week is supposed to be another hot one. Oh well. Have a great week!

  7. Haha! Rainbows, leprechauns, and a pot of gold. I sure hope you get that - we could all use one, right?

    1. One actually ended not too far from the house. I told the kids to grab the shovels and head off to see what they could find. Theyjust turned and looked up at me with the oddest stare. *sigh*

  8. Rainbows make for great photos... and major traffic accidents here in Jersey. People get into accidents from trying to take a photo of a beautiful rainbow while driving. Talk about ruining a good moment. LOL

  9. Tonja, I haven't seen a rainbow in quite some time. The rain usually falls too late in the evening for the sunshine to refract the water droplets. Yesterday, we got to enjoy the day in the mountains and the temperatures were quite refreshing. At Mt. Mitchell State Park(just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, north of Asheville, NC) it was 66Āŗ and breezy making it feel perfect. I got tickled with many of the visitors wearing jackets and sweaters. I figured they must be from Florida and those temps were too cool for them. lol

    1. Oh, wow! That sounds perfect!!! There's no way I'd want to cover up those goose bumps. What a treat (at the moment, anyway)

  11. You're not kidding about the heat. Where I am in NC, this week we've had it linger at 104-105, with 60% humidity, up til 7pm. It's just smothering. And we've had no rain.

I'm glad you had rainbows. They are always magickal!

    1. Yay! I'm so glad you found that out :) I've actually been using it alongside my actual Kindle for years and am a total fan. Hope you like Amanda Lester. I do, but then everyone has their own feel for such things.
