Celebrate the Small Things

It's time for another edition of. . .

CELEBRATE THE SMALL THINGS!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about those moments. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Healthy again! Last week, some of you may have noticed that I sort of skipped my Celebrate post. It's not that I don't adore hopping and around and visiting everyone (I really do), but I ended up in bed with a nasty flu. But goodbye bug! I'm up and kicking again.

2) 4th of July with the family! My sister and her family came out to visit my parents. Since I haven't seen them for over 2 years, it was nice to spend some time with them. And the kids had a blast.

3) Vegetables in my garden are still alive! The last two years haven't been exactly encouraging in the gardening area. Even this year has proven to be a bit frustrating. But it looks like I might actually get to see something this year. (I know. I should keep my mouth shut before I jinx it, and they all die off on me again. So ssshhhh....I'm not really celebrating this out loud.)

What about you? Have a happy 4th? Catch a grasshopper? Go ice skating? Jump into the air and shout for no reason whatsoever?

What put a smile on your face this past week?

  1. Glad you're healthy now and had a good time with your sister and family. Now, don't jinx the vegetables.

  2. My hardcover copy of And I Darken by Kiersten White finally arrived in the mail yesterday. Go way jinx, Tonja deserves those veggies. Glad you're well again and had fun during the holiday with family.

  3. So glad you are well. And may your garden grow well. Mine's getting a little jungle-y but I am encouraged to weed by the fact that I can feed the weeds to my chickens, ducks and goats.
I had a good time over the Fourth except for a young barn cat having 6 kittens, which is a lot for a first time cat mom to handle.

  4. Yay to being healthy! So glad you're better (but hey, you never told me you were sick. All this time I'm tweeting you and thinking you are fine). May your vegetable garden soon follow suit. :-)

  7. I'm celebrating family too! Glad to hear you are feeling better. I had some sort of stomach bug a few weeks ago and felt pretty miserable...I hate getting sick. Enjoy your weekend!

  10. Growing veg is much more difficult than any of these gardening programs show - they never seem to get the weeds grow bigger than the veg as in my garden plot!! So glad to hear you're feeling better and thanks for co-hosting this wonderful blog hop - it makes that Friday feeling all the more better :) Special Teaching at Pempi’s Palace

  12. Yay for kicking that flu to the curb and for visits from family! My mom always had a little garden in the back yard and it always produced lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini. She had a green thumb. I wish you good luck with your vegetables!

  13. Glad you're feeling better. And good luck with your garden. I admire people who can grow stuff. Everything I try to plant dies… But then, I do live right by the sea and the soil is mostly sand.

  14. I'm glad you're better. I'd like a vegetable garden one day.

  15. Being healthy again after the flu (isn't that supposed to be a WINTER bug???) is worth celebrating. Add a functional vegetable garden and you're doing really well!
