Celebrating the Small Things

It's time for another edition of. . .

CELEBRATE THE SMALL THINGS!

This is a weekly blog hop sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain, and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself. Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about those moments. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Haying! Honestly, I'm not sure whether to celebrate this one or not. It's great to have the hay for the year, but the sweat and work that are needed to cut it, rake it, bale it, and bring it in aren't things which feel like celebrating, especially when it's 90+ degrees in 60+ humidity. But for the first time, we've got the machines to do our own hay, and we've been doing exactly that.

2) Pizza night thanks to my son! The oldest suddenly had the urge to bug his sister while she waitresses over at Pizza Hut, so he invited us all out to dinner. And who doesn't like pizza???

3) Release Day for Casting Shadows by Ilana Waters!
This is the 2nd book in her Seluna series, a YA Fantasy which mix Greek myths with ancient pantheons into a paranormal romance with flair.

4) Only one week left to the release of The Thing That Turned Me anthology! This one is sure to include the names of several authors you recognize and has stories as varied as the rainbow itself. In other words, there's something in this one for everyone.

Now, that I've rattled away, it's your turn. What put a smile on your face this last week? Did you enjoy the sun? Did you pick up a new book? Roll down a grass hill? What are you celebrating?

  1. Can't pass up pizza!
Doing anything outside in that kind of weather sounds miserable.

  2. Hay baling, ugh! But I love your landscape!!!! It's always sweet when one of the kids picks up the tab.

  3. Yikes, that's too hot to being doing things outdoors. I love pizza nights and I look forward to the anthology.

  4. Wow, does that bring back memories. I grew up on a dairy farm and spent many a summer haying in the heat and humidity. The good parts were drinking lots of lemonade and jumping into the river between hay loads to cool off.
So nice of your son to spring for the pizza! Congrats for the new releases!

  5. That is hot. It's supposed to get up to 90 here this weekend. I wish it would stay in the 70s. I'm celebrating my pets this week.

Who doesn't love to bug their sibling? :) Hope your weekend goes well!! Congratulations to Illana!

  8. Yay for machines to do your hay! Your family sounds so sweet. I love that your son took you all out for pizza just to "bug" his sister. LOL!

  9. Awww . . . I can't believe you blogged about my book! That definitely put a smile on my face. THANK YOU!!

Sorry to hear about your haying. Maybe at least you have machines, and don't have to do it by land like they did in the olden days? *pictures Tonya with a scythe*

I have not forgotten your anthology, and cannot wait to see it!

  10. Hay baling does not sound like a lot of fun, especially in hot, sticky weather. I am betting you come home and find hay everywhere -- just like sand after a visit to the beach.

This week I celebrated spending 3 days with my sister and her family who were visiting from Kansas. We had fun hanging by the pool, cooking together, and then eating great food. The cousins were highly amused that my daughter now drives and that she could take them out for pizza without any of the adults coming along. (So pizza was part of our week too.)

  11. Been a while since I've had genuinely good pizza, and good on your son for taking the family out. ^_^ This week, I'm celebrating both editing my latest novel and getting some good notes down on a new one. Things have been really rough for me writing-wise lately and I'm glad to finally be turning them around a little.
