Celebrate the Small Things

This weekly blog hop is sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain,  and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.

What exactly are we celebrating?

Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Wood burning! We had two piles of branches, debris and such from fence cleaning, flood cleaning and the such, and now, they're gone! It took my son and  myself 15 trailer trips and tons of fire watching, but we got it done. And I didn't even find one snake under the piles...a very happy surprise.

2) My husband is home from Germany! That brings more life into the house, and lots of treats too. He had a great time (his cheeks glow in every picture he's in). And I'm not complaining about the whiskey he bought for me in the duty free shop either. Not one little bit.

3) More writing time! This comes thanks to that time change. I'm not a huge fan of the time change (who is?), but this is one aspect I love. It gets dark early, which means that the farm life slows down. No light. No work. The kids are also more ready to relax and calm down. In other words, life is now quieter and with it, more time in the evening for me to type away.

What about you? What put a smile on your face this last week? Did you see any pretty autumn trees (ours shed within a few days, so not much here)? Did you find a pretty pen or notebook? Did someone give you an unexpected compliment?

What are you celebrating this week?

  1. No matter the time change, it always throws me for awhile. I do like this one better - lighter, earlier is my preference. :)

  2. The time change does definitely bring a change of pace. Yikes, snakes ... glad you didn't encounter any in your wood piles. Sounds like your husband had a great visit, enjoy those treats!

  3. You certainly don't sound like you are complaining!
    Amazing no snakes. Too cold?

  4. We still have a few trees holding themselves together. Won’t be long, so I’m making sure I enjoy it. :)

Yay for no snake surprises! Lol! And of course, yay for writing time! I keep thinking I’m getting tired earlier, but it’s technically the same time I always get tired. Haha.

  6. Glad to hear your husband is back safe and sound...and happy. That is the upside of the time change. I don't mind the fall back as much as the spring forward.

  8. I'm making my way through Krystal's novel...so good! It got very cold here all of a sudden, so winter is definitely here in New York.

  10. Sounds like a whole lot of good for one week, including the whiskey and lack of snakes. ^_^ (Mostly, I just wanted to say "whiskey and lack of snakes.") As for me, I'm celebrating some good work-related stuff - nothing I can get into here, but it's something that will make my life better.

  11. Tonja,

We did manage to see a few pretty yellow trees this weekend and some nice colors the previous weekend but I say that'll be it. The autumn change is felt more prominent these days. Gosh, I can't believe it's nearly mid-November, too! So glad that the hubs is home from Germany and that he remembered to bring gifts home to all. How nice! :) Early night fall does make one more rested but I do miss the beautiful long evening's light. Have a great week and thanks for visiting, my friend!

  12. I'm celebrating a three-day weekend of accomplishments: cleaner house, cleaned out garage, and a lawn thats been raked and mowed. Woo-hoo! (Now I'm tired. Good thing blogging doesn't take too much brain power.)
