IWSG - Writing? Ha!

It's time for. . . IWSG!

What is that?

Well, for those of you who don't know. . .the amazing founder of this awesome group, Alex J. Cavanaugh, says it this way:

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Special thanks goes to the cohosts this month: Yolanda Renee, Tyrean Martinson, Madeline Mora-Summonte , LK Hill, Rachna Chhabria, and JA Scott!

This month, the wonderful brains driving IWSG have decided to try something new. To help inspire our monthly posts, they are now offering a monthly question. This month's question is:
What's the best thing someone has ever said about your writing?

The phrase I love to hear is "I couldn't put this down."

(Another secret one of mine was 'I wanted to slap that girl!', but that wouldn't work into this post as nicely. . .)

I love reading books which just won't let me take a break. I HAVE to know what's going to happen next even if it means loosing a night's sleep. So when I hear that my writing does that to someone, it's a reassurance that I can do it. I can drag someone away from reality and keep them entranced in my world.

That's all I want for now.

As to the Writing? Ha! in the post title.....Lol! Let's just say that the last weeks have been anything but productive thanks to life. But I'm not worried. Things always seem to come in waves and phases.

  1. "I couldn't put this down" is one of the best things you can hear as a writer.

Although I still think my best ever compliment was "I could totally play this at recess!" Still makes me smile to think of kids acting out my scenes on the playground!

    1. That is a great compliment! I could see enacting your books on the playground too--they fit perfectly for that.

  2. Well, now I want to know more about the slapping!

  3. "I wanted to slap that girl!" Hey, sometimes that's applicable! I've had a not-so-productive on the writing front last few weeks, but also, my nephews were up visiting, so getting to spend time with them is a good break from Writing Land.

  4. Nothing better for a writer to hear than "I couldn't put this down." And nothing better for a reader to find a book like that either!

  5. I totally forgot about the new monthly question! DOH! Anyway, I like I wanted to slap that girl too :-) Just getting back into writing after an entire year off. Feels good.

You've hit the nail on the head. To be unputdownable is every writer's dream. You absolutely CAN do this and will CONTINUE to do this. You're wise to recognize that life goes in waves, and soon, another writing wave will come for YOU. MWAHAHAHHAAA!!

  8. What a great compliment. That's what we all want as writers, isn't it? I think you have a great attitude about the web and flow of writing. So very true.

  9. That's an amazing compliment. When I read, that's what I want, and I hope to achieve that with my own books.

  10. That's an awesome compliment and encouragement. That's what I want when I read, and I hope some of my writing does that for someone, too.

  11. I can't wait for someone to say that about my writing! I can't decide between "This is the best thing ever" and "I had to sleep with the lights on after reading this." ^_^

    Productive. Ha. :D

  12. I definitely hear you on this one. As much as I want the writing career, a lot of why I want that is just to get my stories to people who'll read them, so I can give back some of the great reading times I've had with so many authors.
