IWSG-ing into the new year!

Happy New Year!

And of course, it starts off with a bang--IWSG! Summed up in a nutshell, IWSG is a group which allows writers to find/offer support, voice frustrations, joys, celebrations and enjoys an ever growing universe. To learn more about this wonderful group started by the amazing Alex J. Cavanaugh, head over here.

Thanks to all of his co-hosts this month:  L.G. Keltner, Denise Covey, Sheri Larsen, J.Q. Rose, Chemist Ken, and Michelle Wallace !

I'm going to be generic today and hit on my goals for 2016.

Goals? Okay, maybe not so much, since I'm not really into that whole resolution/goal setting thing at this time of year. Life tends to do what it wants and toss everything on its head too often for me to believe I can lay plans out that nicely. But I do hope to write more.

Tons more.

Four book ideas have been brewing in my head for a couple of years now, but revisions on other manuscripts and life kept putting a damper on writing them down. So, I plan (hope?) to finally get at least two of these written, maybe revised and out the door.

I've decided that this will be the year for my first, very own publication. No, this wasn't a sudden decision, but rather something I've been tossing around in my head for quite awhile, and a few things started slipping into place the last few months. There are a couple possibilities on exactly how this will transpire still floating around, but they should be resolved soon. (Sounds more like a riddle than it really is.) And then, I'm going to take the plunge--for better or for worse.

Ugh. I'm going to be a nervous wreck.

There's also a great anthology coming up soon, which I'll be posting and screaming about everywhere. I'm currently putting the shine on my contribution for that. . .this anthology is going to be awesome, and I bet you'll know tons of the writers involved. A real treat. (See, I'm starting my campaign already).

Summed up, I'm heading into the next months with determination and am trying to toss some baggage aside. To catch those dreams, we have to get up and chase them because no one is going to do it for us.

And what about you?
Any goals? Concerns? Hopes for the new year?

How's the writing world treating you?

Oh, and to start my screaming, here's the super, awesome trailer for the anthology!
Thanks, Randi Lee!!!

  7. Great attitude - focus on the new year and new challenges and don't worry about things that didn't get done in 2015. The new year is full of opportunities. I'm looking forward to hearing about your new publication!

    1. If only we could do several things all at the same time. Guess it doesn't work that way ;)

  12. Self-publishing is a bit step, but YOU CAN DO IT! How do I know this? Because I did it, so I know it can be done. Remember to have fun.

  14. Hey Tonja!!! Congratulations on your anthology! So excited to hear you may be self-publishing. My MAGES series has been doing really well on that front (knock on wood), and I've got the last book in the series pubbing shortly, as you know. Also an omnibus, and the first SELUNA book this year. I, too, once thought of self-pub a last resort; so glad I changed my mind! Feel free to tackle me with any questions or concerns. I've learned so much about this process in the past few years and would love to share. THIS WILL BE YOUR YEAR.

  15. I hope to write more this year too. And blog more. Blogging keeps me energized and reminds me I'm not in this alone.

I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve for 2016!

  16. Those are funny farm animals. Now and then we see wild turkeys here but that one looks so funny on the roof. Glad your bush hog will be helping you out. They are helpful when you have thick stuff to mow. Happy weekend.

  17. I'm also not a New Year Resolution kind of person.
Small, manageable and achieveable goals is the way to go.
    Happy New Year!
(I'll contact you once I've settled into a rhythm of sorts...)
